The Pride Institute consists of a dedicated unit in the Fort Lauderdale Hospital Complex. The environment is designed to provide comfort as well as safety and security. Rooms are shared and each has their own bathroom with shower. Ours is a dedicated unit, not a track within a general program. Attention has been made to provide an environment that is affirming to the community of origin. Our walls are graced with prints depicting the beauty of same sex couples. We also include a variety of community affirming symbols as part of our décor. The abundance of supportive décor is intended to offset any residual internalize homophobia that one comes into treatment with. Our environment is intended to celebrate the community while instilling pride in self and community. Ours is a program that dispels myths that may have been planted from past experiences. There is no room for SHAME or GUILT in our home.

As we celebrate ten years of service to the community we are undergoing a face lift of sorts to raise us to the next level of comfort and affirmation. Our plans will incorporate aspects of nature as well as inclusion of innovations that will enervate all of the senses. Come and visit frequently to see our home improvement in the months to come.
